Authorities arrested a 53-year-old man in the municipality of Vieira do Minho, in the district of Braga, following a complaint of assaults in the context of domestic violence. The security forces' operation took place on Thursday.
According to the investigation, the suspect made repeated threats using a firearm. GNR officers seized a pistol, a recreational replica and projectiles of various calibres at the scene. All material was confiscated as a precaution.
The firearms will subsequently be transferred to the specialised unit of the PSP in Braga, responsible for firearms and explosives control. The case was referred to the judicial authorities in the city for the continuation of legal proceedings.
