Extradition from Germany for attempted murder in Alentejo
The Judicial Police have completed the extradition of a 53-year-old man, detained in Germany under a European Arrest Warrant issued by Portuguese authorities, according to information from Google News PT — Crime (pt). The suspect is identified as the perpetrator of an attempted murder that occurred in Aljustrel, in Alentejo, in September 2025.
The operation was conducted by the PJ's International Cooperation Unit, with the investigation being carried out by the Southern Directorate. The facts originated in assaults recorded at the shared workplace of the suspect and the victim, on a property in that municipality in Alentejo.
The victim, a 38-year-old man, was assaulted with a sharp object, sustaining serious injuries. The rapid intervention of emergency services and transport to the Lower Alentejo Local Health Unit at Beja Hospital prevented a fatal outcome.
The investigation established that the assailant acted for trivial reasons, following a dispute and under the influence of excessive alcohol consumption. After the attack, he fled to Romania, and was subsequently located in German territory.
The proceedings made it possible to identify the suspect and gather sufficient evidence to issue arrest warrants for acts not committed in flagrante. Brought to Portugal, the detainee was presented for his first judicial interrogation and was remanded in custody.
The inquiry is being directed by the Public Prosecution Office at the Court of General Jurisdiction of Ourique.
