A 45-year-old man accused of a collective sexual crime that occurred in Paris in 2024 was arrested in Albufeira following a European arrest warrant.

Portuguese authorities arrested on Tuesday in Albufeira a 45-year-old citizen fleeing French justice. The man is suspected of having participated in a gang rape crime committed in the French capital in 2024.
The arrest resulted from the execution of a European arrest warrant issued by French authorities, according to the PSP. According to the same source, the maximum sentence for this type of offence in French territory can reach two decades of imprisonment.
Following his arrest in the Algarve, the suspect was transferred to the facilities of the District Command of Évora, where he was placed in a holding cell. The case now proceeds to the Évora Court of Appeal, where he will be submitted to judicial interrogation.
