27-year-old man arrested in Redondo following assaults and child abduction
A 27-year-old man of foreign nationality was apprehended by the Judicial Police of Évora after breaking into the home of his former partner, injuring her new partner with a sharp weapon, assaulting his ex-partner and fleeing with their young son.

In the early hours of 5 July, a 27-year-old man of foreign origin forced his way into the home of his former partner in Redondo. Armed with a piece of wood and a blade, he assaulted the woman's new partner, inflicting two stab wounds, and also assaulted his ex-partner. He then fled with the couple's son, who is only two years old.
The victims were taken to Évora hospital, and both have since been discharged.
The Judicial Police of Évora took charge of the case and, within 24 hours, located the fugitive and recovered the child. They were found hidden in a relative's home of the detainee in Montemor-o-Novo, approximately 70 kilometres from where the crimes took place.
The boy is well and has been returned to his mother. The detainee was brought before court the following Thursday.
