The PSP arrested a 24-year-old man, who was remanded in custody, for kidnapping and robbing two 15-year-old youths near Carcavelos railway station in Cascais. The individual immobilised one of the teenagers with a chokehold and pretended to possess a weapon.

The crimes occurred on the previous Thursday, at approximately 23:00. The assailant approached the two boys and climbed onto the rear of one of their bicycles. He grabbed the teenager's neck and, using an asphyxiation manoeuvre, forced both to move away from the station.

For several minutes, the man constantly reached into his rucksack, leading the victims to believe he had a pistol. He told them he had already been in prison and that he was part of an organised criminal group.

The robber demanded that the young men unlock their mobile phones and reset them to factory settings. He took them to a cash machine to withdraw 100 euros. However, the parent of one of the victims, alerted by his son to transfer money, realised that something was wrong.

The kidnapping lasted approximately thirty minutes. The offender fled with the two mobile phones, valued at 720 euros, wireless headphones valued at 40 euros and some cash.

The police authorities conducted investigations that led to the identification of the offender, who already had a history of similar offences.
