The Judicial Police arrested a 62-year-old radio presenter in Amarante for possession and distribution of images of child sexual abuse. Part of the material dated back 20 years.
The Northern PJ unit launched an online surveillance operation aimed at identifying those who distribute child sexual exploitation content. During this digital sweep, officers discovered suspicious browsing patterns that were eventually linked to the radio professional.
After obtaining authorisation to search the suspect's residence and equipment, teams found digital files containing photographs and videos of pornographic nature involving minors. The archive included documents accumulated over two decades.
IT experts also found that the suspect used peer-to-peer (P2P) networks to download and disseminate the illicit material.
The detainee, with no previous criminal record, was brought before the court for initial questioning. The Public Prosecution Service of Amarante is directing the investigation, which is proceeding under judicial secrecy.
