Viseu Court heard television presenter Maya on Friday as a defence witness in the case in which Nuno Homem de Sá is answering charges of domestic abuse. The CMTV artist appeared electronically, connecting remotely to the courtroom.
The actor's defence sought the inclusion of a segment from the "Noite das Estrelas" format in the case file, which prompted the convening of the broadcaster. During her testimony, Maya recounted a conversation she had with Nádia Lopes, the defendant's ex-girlfriend and complainant in this case. According to the witness, the woman confided to her that the separation had not been amicable, although she did not point to domestic assault as the cause of the split.
This is the second time in less than a month that the actor has been taken to court for this type of offence. In the first half of July, he had already been sentenced in a similar case in Torres Vedras. The present complaint was brought by the artist's former romantic partner.
Alexandre Guerreiro, counsel for the defence, explained that resorting to testimonies from third parties who had contact with the parties makes it possible to clarify circumstances that are not visible only within the four walls of a home. The lawyer argued that these statements help to reconstruct the context in which the alleged facts occurred.
The legal representatives of Nádia Lopes, led by Henrique Albuquerque, contested the evidentiary value of the testimony, classifying it as a delaying tactic with no relevant legal substance.
At the end of the session, the defendant himself made a point of emphasising the significance of the presenter's words. Nuno Homem de Sá stated that when his former partner moved to Viseu, the couple maintained a stable relationship, and that the move was due to health problems of the woman's family members, with the separation occurring only later.
The case was suspended for the August judicial recess period. Hearings will continue on 18 September, with new witnesses scheduled to be heard.
