Mother reports 17-year-old son to police for drug trafficking in Vila Franca de Xira
A 17-year-old boy was detained by the PSP in Forte da Casa, in the municipality of Vila Franca de Xira, for assault on his mother and possession of controlled substances. According to Correio da Manhã, the detention resulted from a report made by the young man's own mother to the authorities.
In a statement, the PSP clarified that it was the young man's mother who alerted officers to her suspicions: the son possessed and consumed drugs, raised money of unknown origin and used those funds to acquire expensive clothing. The woman also pointed to the existence of suspicious bank withdrawals made by her son.
During the police approach, the young man admitted to having with him a bottle of nitrous oxide — known as "laughing gas" — which was immediately seized from him. The search also allowed officers to collect 41.36 doses of hashish, 650 euros in cash, three mouthpieces and eight balloons. The minor was named as a suspect and made subject to a Term of Identity and Residence.
As part of the same operation, the Vila Franca de Xira Division of the PSP proceeded to detain a second suspect for drug trafficking. A man was detained after selling 27.74 doses of hashish to another individual, who confessed to being the trafficker's customer for approximately three months. The detainee was also named as a suspect.
