Detention following firearm threat at Lisbon restaurant
Lisbon PSP detained a 36-year-old woman suspected of threatening restaurant staff with a firearm at Parque das Nações, according to Correio da Manhã. The defendant is charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, aggravated threats and aggravated coercion.
The incident dates back to June of last year. A group attempted to force entry into the establishment after staff members refused to close the restaurant — a refusal the group did not accept. During the disturbance, which was recorded on video by bystanders, a member of the group displayed a weapon in the direction of the workers.
The investigation commenced after PSP became aware of the events. The investigative steps undertaken made it possible to identify the suspects and gather sufficient evidence for the issuance of arrest warrants.
After executing the warrant, the suspect was detained and the air-pressure weapon allegedly used in the threat was seized. At her initial court hearing, the most severe enforcement measure was applied: remand in custody.
