A 54-year-old resident was remanded in preventive custody after causing the death of her 57-year-old husband. The incident occurred on 29 June in the home that the couple shared in Corroios, in the municipality of Seixal.
According to clarifications provided by the Judicial Police, the tragic outcome resulted from a violent argument between the two spouses. Authorities indicate that situations of physical confrontation were recurrent in the couple's relationship.
The investigation suggests that the woman took advantage of a moment of advantage during the mutual assault. After managing to temporarily immobilise her partner, she went to the kitchen and armed herself with a knife. The blow struck was fatal.
The accused was brought before court for her initial interrogation. The criminal investigation judge decided on her preventive remand. The woman is now facing charges of qualified homicide.
