GNR operation in Guimarães results in four arrests for drug trafficking
Elements of the National Republican Guard (GNR) carried out the arrest of a minimum of four individuals on Monday, 15 June, suspected of participating in illegal drug trafficking. The operation took place in the Bairro da Emboladoura, located in Gondar, in the municipality of Guimarães.
The initiative came from the Criminal Investigation Department (NIC) of that city in Minho, following an investigation into the trafficking of illicit substances. The house searches began around half past six in the morning and involved a significant number of officers. The entrances to the residential neighbourhood remain under police surveillance whilst investigations continue.
According to reporting by Correio da Manhã, among those arrested is a man who had evaded the judicial authorities for more than twenty-four months in connection with a criminal case involving attempted murder.
The searches in the field are ongoing, with officers collecting evidence to instruct the ongoing investigation file.
