Two citizens, aged 29 and 40, were taken into custody at the end of May, accused of involvement in illegal trafficking of psychoactive substances. The action by the Guarda Nacional Republicana (National Republican Guard) spanned the period from 27 to 29 May.

In total, 11 searches were carried out — four at residences and seven of vehicles — across the municipalities of Esposende, Guimarães and Vila Nova de Famalicão. During these searches, officers discovered and seized ten bars of the precious metal.

The material seized also included two bladed weapons, a forged Italian identity document and a counterfeit driving licence from the same country.

The individuals were formally constituted as defendants and the case was referred to Santo Tirso Court.
