Pedro Brandão, who recently left his position as pro-rector at the University of Porto, is among fifteen defendants in a corruption case opened by the European Public Prosecutor's Office. The investigation, designated Operation Nexus, concerns alleged diversions of community funds allocated through the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
The amount in question is approximately 3.5 million euros. According to suspicions, procurement procedures for the acquisition of computer equipment and cybersecurity solutions are believed to have been manipulated, with technical specifications drawn up in a way designed to favour certain commercial companies and their respective suppliers.
