The criminal court in Mafra jurisdiction imposed a monetary penalty of 210 euros on a firefighter who caused burn injuries to his daughter, a child only four years old. The incident occurred on 23 April 2022, when the man used an electric device to heat water, according to information from Jornal de Notícias, cited by Correio da Manhã.
The child was visiting the father on a fortnightly schedule. When the mother came to collect her daughter that day, she observed injuries to the abdominal region and rushed her to the local healthcare unit.
The Public Prosecution Service brought charges against the firefighter for the crime of bodily injury through negligence. The defendant already had a judicial record relating to assaults in a domestic context. The court decision was made in October of the previous year.
The woman with whom the convicted man lives, the victim's stepmother, was also the subject of charges for the same offence, but would be acquitted at the end of the proceedings.
