The Judicial Police detained a 54-year-old man in Lisbon yesterday, suspected of three sexual abuse offences against his underage daughter, as well as one offence of transmission of contagious disease, according to policiajudiciaria.pt.
The investigation, conducted by the Local Criminal Investigation Unit of Évora, established that the first abuses occurred in July of last year, during the family's holiday in Portalegre.
The following September, the suspect again abused his 17-year-old daughter while driving her from school to her mother's house in Queluz.
As a result of these abuses, the young woman became pregnant. The pregnancy resulted in a miscarriage. DNA tests on the foetus, the minor and the father identified the detainee as the biological father.
The accused will be presented to the judicial authorities in Portalegre tomorrow for initial questioning and application of precautionary measures.
