Judicial Police detain 32-year-old man suspected of rape in March last year
The Lisbon Judicial Police have detained a 32-year-old individual suspected of committing a rape offence against a 49-year-old woman. The incident dates back to the end of March 2025.
According to the investigation, the man asked the victim if he could stay at her house for three nights, claiming he needed to regularise travel documentation for his country of origin. The woman accepted the request. In the early hours of 30 March, the suspect carried out the sexual assault, using physical force.
The victim's daughter, a 21-year-old woman, heard her mother's screams and attempted to intervene. The assailant ended up assaulting her as well.
After the crime, the man fled and took refuge in the Guarda district. It was there that Judicial Police investigators located and detained him this week.
The suspect was brought before Sintra court on Thursday for the application of precautionary measures.
