Two drug trafficking suspects arrested in Lisbon with military-calibre firearms
The Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of the Lisbon PSP arrested two men — aged 28 and 39 — suspected of running a drug sales network in the areas of Alta de Lisboa and Ameixoeira, reports Correio da Manhã.
The arrests resulted from several months of investigation, during which DIC officers identified the two suspects and located their respective residences. On Tuesday, the PSP proceeded with residential searches at both addresses.
During the searches, 9,290 doses of hashish, 38.8 grammes of cocaine and 28.4 grammes of heroin were seized. In addition to the drugs, investigators found €14,800 in cash, believed to be proceeds from trafficking.
The weapons seized aggravate the charges: the suspects were in possession of a 9mm calibre pistol — prohibited for civilian use — 56 rounds of ammunition and five magazines of the same calibre. The PSP also recovered one magazine and two rounds of 6.35mm calibre, as well as a machete.
The two detainees will be brought before a court.
