Eighty PSP officers seal off Leiria neighbourhood in anti-trafficking operation
The PSP launched a large-scale police operation on Wednesday at Bairro Dr. Francisco Sá Carneiro in Leiria, focusing on combating drug trafficking. Correio da Manhã reports that there are already detainees and that several arrest warrants and house searches are being executed.
The operation mobilises approximately 80 police officers, reinforced with resources from the Metropolitan Command of Lisbon, the District Command of Santarém and the District Command of Coimbra.
The investigation supporting this intervention originates from a criminal investigation process initiated in 2025 and was planned over several months before being carried out.
