A radio broadcaster aged 62 was apprehended by the Judicial Police on Thursday in Amarante, in the Porto district. The professional is accused of offences related to child sexual abuse material, having used computing tools to access and distribute this type of content.
The arrest resulted from an electronic surveillance operation by the PJ, directed at detecting the sharing of illicit files on the web. Investigators detected browsing patterns consistent with searches for prohibited images and videos. Later, they identified the person responsible for the accesses as the man now arrested.
During a search of the suspect's home and premises, officers collected a collection of photographs and recordings depicting sexual acts involving children. Some of the digital documents found date from approximately twenty years ago. The police force clarified that the individual used peer-to-peer (P2P) distribution software to obtain and spread child sexual abuse material.
On Friday, the detainee appeared before the judge for initial interrogation. The court ruled that the defendant must present himself fortnightly to the authorities. Additionally, it imposed on him a prohibition from communicating with minors under 14 years of age and from using the internet.
