Receptionist arrested after sexually assaulting fellow trainee at Lisbon hotel
A 28-year-old receptionist was arrested by the Judicial Police for raping a 19-year-old trainee at a hotel in Lisbon where both worked, reports the Correio da Manhã. The suspect was remanded in custody after being brought before a judge for his first interrogation.
The first attack occurred in the early hours of 1 July, during a night patrol of the premises. The suspect, who supervised the victim, deliberately led him to an area not covered by the hotel's surveillance cameras and there committed rape using physical violence. The following day, the crime was repeated, despite the trainee's resistance.
Fearing that the assaults would continue, the 19-year-old ultimately sought help from someone he trusted. The hotel subsequently transferred him to another hotel unit, but the suspect continued to look for him at that new location and insisted on contacting him by mobile phone.
According to a statement from the judicial police released this Wednesday, the arrest took place without being caught in the act, following field operations and in light of "dangers of obstruction of the investigation and continuation of criminal activity". The suspect was brought before the judicial authority and remanded in custody.
