Sports trainer aged 29 arrested on suspicion of sexual crimes against minor in Algarve

Law enforcement officers arrested a 29-year-old man who worked as a sports trainer in the town of Vila Real de Santo António. The individual is suspected of having committed sexual abuse against a child aged 12.

The operation was carried out by the Judicial Police on Monday. According to official information, the suspect exploited the relationship of trust established with the minor to commit the offences. During the inquiry, investigators found photographic records and film footage in which the suspect appeared in situations of a sexual nature. These items helped to uncover other children who may have been affected by the same behaviour.

Search operations were executed at the arrested man's home, where evidence of substantial evidentiary value was collected. The PJ teams do not rule out the possibility that there are more minors affected by the suspect's conduct.

The case will now proceed to the judicial phase. The arrested man will be heard by the court, which will decide on the restrictive measures to be applied.
