Three arrested in Lisbon with large cocaine shipment
On the last Sunday, 31 May, the Judicial Police carried out an operation in the capital that culminated in the arrest of three suspects. The operation was made public the following day.
The operation, code-named "Premium Check-in", was conducted by the team specialising in combating drug trafficking. In total, agents collected 47 kilograms of cocaine, described as possessing a high level of purity. Had it been distributed, the illicit substance would have made it possible to produce approximately 476,000 individual doses.
According to the authorities, the two women apprehended were said to have brought the drug with them from a South American country, with the aim of putting it into circulation on the national market.
In addition to the narcotics, the authorities also seized several vehicles, a significant sum of cash, machines intended for counting and packaging banknotes, among other assets.
The detainees — two women aged 34 and a man aged 35 — will be presented to court for interrogation and the application of any coercive measures. The case falls under the jurisdiction of the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action of the capital.
