Detained at airport while attempting to leave country after murder in Porto

Two men and a woman were detained on Monday by the Judicial Police (PJ) at Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon, suspected of homicide and aggravated theft committed in Porto, according to Público. The three detainees are aged between 40 and 45 years old and were preparing to board a flight returning to Brazil.

According to the PJ, through the Northern Directorate, the suspects left Brazil on 6 July and landed in Lisbon on the morning of the following day, immediately travelling to Porto.

On the night of 8 July, they approached the victim using violence inside his residence. They took possession of "various valuable objects", caused the victim's death by asphyxiation and fled to Lisbon.

On Monday, 20 July, the three suspects were at Humberto Delgado Airport when they were intercepted by PJ officers. In their possession were found a large sum of money and other products acquired with the amounts stolen from the victim.

The detainees will be brought before the competent judicial authority for initial judicial interrogation and the application of coercive measures.
