A private security guard aged 63 was detained in flagrante delicto on 12 July in Nazaré, district of Leiria, on suspicion of drug trafficking, the Public Security Police (PSP) informed. According to observador.pt, the man worked at a large commercial establishment and allegedly used this professional context to sell doses of cocaine to consumers who visited the premises.
The detention took place within the framework of an investigation that included search warrants for the suspect's home and vehicle. During the proceedings, the PSP seized 9.37 grammes of cocaine — equivalent to approximately 46 individual doses — 1,780 euros in cash, two mobile phones and a digital scale, commonly used in the preparation and dosing of narcotics.
The authorities also confiscated an expandable baton, a private security professional card and a light passenger vehicle, allegedly associated with the illicit activity.
Presented at his first judicial interrogation, the defendant was subjected to the measure of reporting three times a week to the PSP police station in the area of his residence. The court also prohibited him from frequenting the large commercial establishments where he worked, as well as their respective car parks.
