Five members of a sexual exploitation network detained in Neamț
A network that recruited and sexually exploited young women, including minors, was dismantled by investigators in Neamț County, europafm.ro reports. Five people – four men and one woman, aged between 19 and 38 – have been arrested on charges of child trafficking, human trafficking and trafficking in high-risk drugs.
Prosecutors from DIICOT and specialist police officers combating organised crime worked for two years to document the group's activity. Among the victims identified over time are girls from the "Ozana" Services Complex in Târgu Neamț.
Members of the gang attracted young women with gifts and restaurant invitations. After establishing a relationship of trust, victims were forced to engage in prostitution. In some cases, they were offered drugs – crystals or cocaine – as an additional means of coercion.
To date, investigators have identified and interviewed 17 victims, both minors and adults. DGASPC Neamț confirmed that it received a request from prosecutors to provide three psychologists for the interviewing of minors, but specified that only one girl comes from the "Ozana" Centre.
During 10 searches carried out, quantities of cannabis, cocaine and psychoactive substances were seized. Two members of the group were also involved in selling drugs, at prices between 500 and 750 lei per transaction.
