Two held in connection with fatal attack on Meten-Meer-Zorg construction worker

A 27-year-old housewife and a 36-year-old man are in police custody following the death of Ricardo Thompson, a 25-year-old construction worker from Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara, newsroom.gy reports.

According to a statement from the Guyana Police Force (GPF), Thompson and his reputed wife had a disagreement on Friday, April 10, 2026, after which she left for her parents' home at De Willem, WCD.

Thompson reportedly went to that same address. At approximately 03:00hrs on Saturday, April 11, he was discovered lying motionless on the stairs. Officers who attended the scene observed marks of violence on his body. CCTV footage from a nearby camera is being reviewed.

Thompson's body was taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, and subsequently transferred to Ezekiel Funeral Home to await a post-mortem examination.

The two detainees — the housewife, also of Meten-Meer-Zorg, and the man from De Willem — are assisting investigators. The GPF has not clarified the relationship between either suspect and the deceased.
