Gardaí stopped a car in Dundalk, County Louth, on Wednesday, uncovering 119kg of cannabis with an estimated street value of €1.6m (£1.4m). A man in his 40s was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking.

Follow-up searches in Newtownabbey, County Antrim, carried out by the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Organised Crime Unit, yielded a further 45kg of cannabis, approximately half a kilogram of suspected cocaine, 22 imitation firearms, and £25,000 in cash.

A man in his 30s was arrested in connection with the Newtownabbey searches.
