Google News IE — Crime (en) reports that Gardaí in Limerick are treating the death of a 33-year-old Brazilian woman as a murder-suicide, after the body of the chief suspect was recovered in Co Cork on the same day.

The body of Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa, a native of Sorocaba in the Brazilian state of São Paulo, was discovered at an apartment on Cecil Street in Limerick City at approximately 7.30am on Friday. Colleagues had raised the alarm after she failed to report for work.

The State Pathologist carried out a post-mortem examination, which confirmed Ms Pereira Rosa had died a violent death. According to the Limerick Post, she was stabbed. Investigating Gardaí said they would not be releasing the autopsy results for "operational reasons."

"An Garda Síochána is carrying out a murder investigation," the force confirmed in a statement on Monday afternoon, adding that it would continue to examine all circumstances surrounding the death.

The chief suspect has been named locally as Judismar Weslei Batista, also from Brazil and understood to have been in a long-term relationship with Ms Rosa. Both are believed to have been sharing the Cecil Street apartment where her body was found.

In a statement, Gardaí said a male in his 30s, described as a person of interest and a line of enquiry in the investigation, had been found deceased. His body was recovered near Blackrock Castle in Co Cork at around 7pm on Friday evening — approximately 12 hours after Ms Rosa was discovered dead.

Ms Rosa had been living and working in Limerick for a number of years, employed as a cleaner, and had built a close circle of friends in the city. Her employer is said to be covering the cost of repatriating her remains to Brazil.

Her brother spoke to the Irish Examiner about the loss of his sister, who he said was living the "Brazilian dream of living in Europe."

"We are still in shock about what is happening. I never imagined that I would have to go through such an ordeal," he said.

"She always helped everyone who was here in Brazil as much as she could. She never spared any effort to make my mother happy. She will be missed forever. Unfortunately, we didn't even get the chance to say goodbye."

A fundraising page has been established by those close to Ms Rosa to assist with funeral costs in Brazil. The costs of transporting her body from Ireland to Brazil are being met by her employer; however, additional expenses remain, including transfer from São Paulo airport to her hometown of Sorocaba, as well as the costs of her wake and burial.

"Today we come together for a reason no one should ever have to face. Our dear Jady, a Brazilian who was living in Limerick, Ireland, had her life tragically taken," the fundraising page states. "In this moment of immense grief, we want to help her family give her the dignified farewell she deserves in her home country, surrounded by the people who love her."
