Google News IE — Crime (en) reports that a man in his 40s has been charged following a €1.6m (£1.4m) drugs bust carried out as part of a joint cross-border police operation.
The investigation led to the discovery of 119kg (262lb) of cannabis in Dundalk, County Louth, after a car was stopped on Wednesday. A second man was also arrested during the operation.
Follow-up searches in Newtownabbey, County Antrim, uncovered a further 45kg of cannabis, half a kilogram of suspected cocaine and 22 imitation firearms, along with £25,000 in cash.
The charged man is due to appear before Cavan District Court on Friday afternoon.
Both An Garda Síochána and the PSNI have confirmed that investigations remain ongoing.
