Google News IE — Crime (en) reports that two people have been arrested after gardaí seized approximately 1.5kg of suspected heroin with an estimated street value of €210,000 in Cork City.

The Divisional Drugs Unit, supported by the Southern Regional Drugs Unit and the Armed Support Unit (ASU) Cork City, carried out the operation under Operation Tara on Tuesday, resulting in the discovery of the suspected drugs.

A woman in her 40s was arrested in connection with the operation. Shortly afterwards, a vehicle was stopped nearby and a man in his 60s was also taken into custody.

A subsequent search of a premises, conducted under warrant, uncovered approximately €13,000 in cash along with a further €1,950. Drug paraphernalia was also recovered at the scene, a garda spokesperson confirmed.

The suspected heroin has been sent to Forensic Science Ireland for examination. Both individuals are being detained at garda stations in Cork City under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
