Stolen BMW stopped near Ballinhassig after Garda pursuit in Cork
Four teenage boys were arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning following a Garda chase in Co Cork, BreakingNews.ie reports.
Shortly after 2.30am, gardaí from Kinsale on active mobile patrol in the Begooly area attempted to stop a vehicle carrying multiple occupants as it left a residential estate. The car failed to stop and struck the Garda patrol car as it fled.
A coordinated response was launched involving a number of local and divisional Garda units, including the Armed Support Unit (ASU). A stinger device was placed across the road, and the vehicle came to a stop near Ballinhassig Village shortly before 3am following a managed containment operation.
Four male youths — three aged in their mid-teens and one aged 19 — were arrested and are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Garda stations in Co Cork.
The recovered vehicle, a BMW X5, had been stolen earlier that night during a burglary at a residence in the Rochestown area of Cork. It has since been sent for technical examination.
No injuries were reported during the incident. Investigations are ongoing, gardaí said.
