Gardaí have issued a fresh appeal for information on the disappearance and killing of eight-year-old Daniel Aruebose, a year after Tusla first raised concerns.

Gardaí have renewed their appeal for information on the disappearance and murder of Daniel Aruebose, Google News IE — Crime (en) reports, as the investigation marks one year since Tusla first raised concerns with the force about the boy's whereabouts.
Daniel, who would now be eight years old, lived at The Gallery Apartments in Donabate, north Dublin. No confirmed sighting of him had been recorded for a number of years before Tusla alerted gardaí. Following his death in 2021, his body was buried in an unmarked grave on waste ground.
Skeletal remains were recovered last September. DNA analysis subsequently confirmed the remains were Daniel's, and a homicide investigation was launched in December.
The child and family agency Tusla had maintained contact with Daniel's family but closed its engagement with his parents after a temporary fostering arrangement came to an end. His case triggered a series of wellbeing checks across thousands of Tusla files, as well as a rapid review of his individual case.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed the force "continues to investigate all of the circumstances surrounding Daniel's death." Over the past year, the investigation team has taken more than 400 statements and retained over 100 physical exhibits and nearly 300 documentary exhibits.
The investigation has required cooperation across multiple jurisdictions. Gardaí have engaged with law enforcement authorities in the United States, Brazil, France and the United Kingdom, as well as the Australian Federal Police, the Portuguese Judicial Police, Interpol and the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates. Coordination has also been maintained with the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
Two arrests have been made to date. A woman in her 20s was arrested in December in connection with the murder and subsequently released. In February, a man also in his 20s was arrested and released. In both cases, gardaí said a file was being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Gardaí are urging anyone who resided at The Gallery Apartments complex in Donabate between July 2019 and the present date to contact the investigation team if they have not already done so.
The spokesperson added: "An Garda Síochána is appealing to the public not to assume that the investigation team know information that you may have or that any information you may have is insignificant."
