Gardaí renew murder appeal one year on from Daniel Aruebose case concerns
Gardaí have issued a fresh appeal for information on the death of eight-year-old Daniel Aruebose, a year after Tusla first raised concerns about his disappearance.

Gardaí have issued a new appeal for information surrounding the disappearance and murder of Daniel Aruebose, BreakingNews.ie reports, as the investigation reaches its one-year anniversary since child and family agency Tusla first alerted the force.
Daniel, who would now be eight years old, lived at The Gallery Apartments in Donabate, north Dublin. At the time Tusla raised concerns, there had been no confirmed sighting of the boy in several years.
Following his death in 2021, Daniel's body was buried in an unmarked grave in waste ground. Skeletal remains were recovered last September, and DNA analysis subsequently confirmed they belonged to Daniel. A homicide investigation was formally launched in December.
Tusla had previously engaged with Daniel's family but closed its involvement after a temporary fostering arrangement ended. His case triggered a series of "wellbeing checks" across thousands of Tusla files, as well as a rapid review focused specifically on his circumstances.
Investigation spans multiple countries
Over the course of the past year, the investigation team has taken more than 400 statements and retained over 100 physical exhibits along with nearly 300 documentary exhibits. Gardaí said inquiries have involved ongoing collaboration across multiple domestic and international jurisdictions.
Law enforcement authorities in the United States, Brazil, France and the United Kingdom have all been engaged by the investigation team, alongside the Australian Federal Police, the Portuguese Judicial Police, Interpol and the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates. Coordination has also been maintained with the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
A Garda spokesperson said the force "continues to investigate all of the circumstances surrounding Daniel's death."
Two arrests, files sent to DPP
A woman in her 20s was arrested in December in connection with the murder and subsequently released. A man in his 20s was arrested in February and also released. In both cases, Gardaí confirmed that a file was being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Residents of Donabate apartments urged to come forward
Gardaí are specifically appealing to anyone who was resident at The Gallery Apartments complex in Donabate between July 2019 and the present date to contact the investigation team, if they have not already done so.
The Garda spokesperson added: "An Garda Síochána is appealing to the public not to assume that the investigation team know information that you may have or that any information you may have is insignificant."
