Wexford car theft warning as Enniscorthy man remanded over burglary charges
Gardaí in Wexford are urging motorists to keep their vehicles locked and valuables out of sight following a series of thefts from cars across the county, southeastradio.ie reports.
Garda Kevin Burke said offenders appear to be acting opportunistically, targeting cars left unlocked or with valuables visible inside. "Lock up, light up as well if it's at night," Burke said, advising drivers not to leave phones, purses, handbags or laptops on display. He noted that laptops left on passenger seats are a particularly common target.
Burke stressed that vehicles should be secured even when parked for only a short period, as the incidents under investigation suggest offenders move quickly between targets.
In a separate development, Gardaí in Enniscorthy arrested and charged a man on 21 August in connection with a number of alleged burglary and theft offences. He has since been charged with multiple counts. Gardaí objected to bail, and he was remanded in custody. The investigation into those incidents remains ongoing.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information about thefts in County Wexford to come forward.
