Limerick murder victim laid to rest in Brazil after family fundraiser covers costs

Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa, the 33-year-old Brazilian woman murdered in Limerick last month, has been buried at the Cemitério Memorial Park in Sorocaba, São Paulo, Google News IE — Crime (en) reports.

Her body was discovered at approximately 7.30am on 21 August at an apartment in the Carlton House complex on Cecil Street, Limerick. Gardaí launched a murder investigation shortly afterwards.

Her employer covered the cost of transporting her remains to Brazil, and a fundraiser was established to assist her family with funeral expenses. The body was repatriated on Wednesday, and a wake was held at the Ossel funeral home on Thursday morning. The funeral procession took place on Thursday afternoon before her burial.

Her sister, Poliana, described her in a social media tribute as "perfect, wonderful, beautiful, loved, blessed" and "a kind, generous and hardworking" person. "Although I still don't believe and accept it, now you are at home, close to your family who loves you unconditionally," she wrote.

Ms Pereira Rosa, a law graduate, had been living in Limerick for a number of years and worked for a cleaning company in Co Limerick. Her employer said she will be "sadly missed by everybody." Shane Ryan, who knew her, told the Irish Examiner: "I don't know what to say, she was a great daughter. She's a very good person, and she'll be sadly missed. Jady was a great girl, she didn't deserve what happened to her."

Investigating gardaí had been keen to speak to Judismar Wesley Batista, a Brazilian national and Ms Pereira Rosa's husband. A body found in Cork on the evening of 21 August at approximately 7pm was subsequently confirmed to be Mr Batista.

Friends of Ms Pereira Rosa told the Irish Examiner she had been married to Mr Batista for over a decade. She had ended their relationship a couple of months before her death, but Mr Batista "was not accepting much" of the separation and had hoped for reconciliation.
