Rosa's body was found in an apartment on Cecil Street, Limerick City, at approximately 7.30am last Friday. Around 12 hours later, at 7pm that same evening, the body of the chief suspect — named locally as Judismar Weslei Batista, also a Brazilian national — was recovered near Blackrock Castle, Co Cork, with gardaí and the Coast Guard involved in the operation.

Rosa and Batista had been in a long-term relationship and had been sharing the apartment where she was found dead.

Friends of Rosa had gathered outside the building that Friday morning to walk with her to work. It is understood Batista emerged from the building and told them she would be down shortly. When Rosa did not appear, her friends raised the alarm. Gardaí and paramedics were called, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. She is understood to have suffered stab injuries, though gardaí have said post-mortem results will not be released for "operational reasons."

A Garda spokesman confirmed the recovery of Batista's remains: "A male in his 30s who was a person of interest and a line of enquiry in this investigation has been found deceased."

"An Garda Síochána continue to investigate the murder of the woman to determine all of the circumstances of her death," he added. "A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed to lead the investigation. An incident room has been established at Henry Street Garda Station. Anyone with information is asked to contact Henry Street Garda Station on (061) 212400."

Gardaí are not believed to be seeking any further persons in connection with the murder.

Rosa had been employed by a cleaning company in Limerick. A GoFundMe campaign has been established to cover the repatriation of her remains and funeral costs in her native São Paulo. By Monday, the fund had raised over €25,000.
