Limerick woman stabbed to death; husband found dead in Cork in suspected murder-suicide

Gardaí are investigating a possible murder-suicide connection between the death of a woman in Limerick and the discovery of a man's body in Cork, Dublin Live reports, with both deaths occurring within approximately 24 hours of each other.
Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa, a law graduate originally from Sorocaba in the Brazilian state of São Paulo, was found dead in her flat at Lower Cecil Street in Limerick in the early hours of 21 August. She had been living in the city, where she worked as a cleaner. Friends raised the alarm after she failed to appear outside her apartment building to meet them; Gardaí forced entry and discovered her body.
A murder investigation was launched immediately following evidence of a violent struggle at the scene. A post-mortem examination carried out by the State Pathologist confirmed that Ms Pereira Rosa died violently, having sustained fatal stab wounds.
Gardaí had sought to speak with Ms Pereira Rosa's husband, Judismar Batista, a Brazilian national. He is understood to be the man subsequently found dead in Cork.
On the evening of Friday 21 August, emergency services were alerted after a member of the public spotted a man's body on rocks near Blackrock Castle in Cork at around 7pm. The man is reported to have travelled to Cork by bus from Limerick following Ms Pereira Rosa's death. The area was sealed off by Gardaí, and members of the Irish Coast Guard assisted in recovering the body.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed to CorkBeo: "Gardaí responded to reports of the discovery of the body of an unidentified male at Blackrock, Co. Cork, on the evening of Friday 21st August 2026."
A fundraising campaign has been established to cover the cost of repatriating Ms Pereira Rosa's remains to Brazil.
