Limerick murder suspect found dead as gardaí close line of enquiry

Google News IE — Crime (en) reports that the sole suspect being investigated in connection with the murder of a Brazilian woman at her Limerick city apartment has himself been found dead.

Gardaí had identified a male suspect named Judismar Wesley Batista in connection with the death of Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa, aged in her 30s, who was well known to him. His body was discovered in Cork on Saturday, 22 August.

Ms Pereira Rosa was found at an apartment on Lower Cecil Street, Limerick city, in the early hours of Friday, 21 August. Originally from Sorocaba, in the state of São Paulo, she had been living in Limerick for a number of years and was employed by a local cleaning company at the time of her death. She is believed to have been married.

Her body was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick, where the State Pathologist carried out a post-mortem examination.

Limerick Live understands that gardaí had been pursuing a definite line of enquiry following the launch of a murder investigation, and that the death of the sole suspect has now effectively closed that avenue.

Friends and family members took to social media to pay tribute to Ms Pereira Rosa, describing her as happy, bubbly, and well-loved across Limerick city. A family member said she was in "endless sadness" and "total mourning" following the news of her death.

One close friend posted a photograph of the two of them together and wrote: "Eternal memories of you, my dear. Only God knows how much you helped me and how contagious your joy was. May the Lord Jesus receive you in His arms eternally. We had many happy moments but today, you went to live with Jesus. Eternal memories. I will never forget your kindness."

A fundraiser launched in her memory has raised over €25,000 to cover the costs of repatriating her remains to Brazil and to assist with funeral expenses.
