Two arrested as Gardaí seize €2.3m in drugs during Blanchardstown operation

Two men have been arrested after Gardaí seized drugs with an estimated street value of €2,306,000 in west Dublin on Friday, Google News IE — Crime (en) reports.

The Dublin Crime Response Team (DCRT) carried out the operation as part of an intelligence-led investigation into the sale and supply of controlled drugs. Officers observed and intercepted the handover of suspected drugs at a public location in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15.

At the scene, Gardaí seized approximately 18 kilograms of suspected cocaine with an estimated value of €1.8 million. A further four kilograms of suspected cocaine, valued at €400,000, was recovered from a vehicle at the location.

"Two males, aged in their 50s and 60s, were arrested and are currently detained in a Garda station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking Act) 1996," a Garda spokesperson said.

Follow-up searches were subsequently conducted across both Dublin Metropolitan Region North and Dublin Metropolitan Region South. Those searches resulted in the additional seizure of 5,000 MDMA tablets, estimated at €50,000, and four kilograms of cannabis herb valued at approximately €56,000.

"The drugs seized will be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis. Investigations are ongoing," the spokesperson added.
