Google News IE — Crime (en) reports that gardaí are treating the death of Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa, a Brazilian national, as a murder-suicide following the discovery of the chief suspect's body in Co Cork.

Rosa's body was found inside an apartment on Cecil Street, Limerick City, at around 7.30am on Friday morning. Approximately 12 hours later, at 7pm that evening, the body of the chief suspect — named locally as Judismar Weslei Batista, also from Brazil — was recovered near Blackrock Castle, Co Cork, with gardaí and the Coast Guard involved in the recovery.

Rosa and Batista are understood to have been in a long-term relationship and had been sharing the apartment where she was found dead.

Friends of Rosa had gathered outside the apartment building that Friday morning to travel to work with her. It is understood Batista emerged from the building and told them she would be down shortly. When she did not appear, her friends raised the alarm. Gardaí and paramedics were called to the scene, and Rosa was pronounced dead inside the apartment. She is understood to have suffered stab injuries, though gardaí said they would not be releasing the results of her post-mortem for "operational reasons".

Batista's remains were not immediately identified following their recovery near Blackrock.

A Garda spokesman confirmed: "A male in his 30s who was a person of interest and a line of enquiry in this investigation, has been found deceased." He added that An Garda Síochána would continue to investigate the murder "to determine all of the circumstances of her death."

A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed to lead the investigation, and an incident room has been established at Henry Street Garda Station. Gardaí are not believed to be seeking anyone else in connection with Rosa's murder.

Rosa had been employed by a cleaning company in Limerick.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to cover the costs of repatriating her remains and her funeral in her native São Paulo. The fund had raised over €25,000 by Monday.
