Peterborough man given suspended sentence after drunken high-speed chase on A15
A drunk driver who led Cambridgeshire Police on a high-speed pursuit through Peterborough in the early hours of 21 December has been handed a 12-month suspended prison sentence, bbc.com reports.
Cieren Brownsword, 35, of Trelowen Way, Peterborough, was filmed tailgating other vehicles on the A15 in Hampton at around 02:30 BST while at the wheel of a black Land Rover Discovery. When officers attempted to stop him, Brownsword refused to pull over and drove well above the speed limit for approximately seven minutes before being arrested on Southwold Drive.
A breath test showed he was nearly twice the legal drink-drive limit, according to Cambridgeshire Police.
Brownsword appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on Tuesday, where he admitted drink driving, dangerous driving, and failing to stop for police. The court sentenced him to 12 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, and disqualified him from driving for three years.
Police released video footage of the pursuit, showing the moment Brownsword was stopped and detained.
