Suspect released as Manchester murder inquiry continues
A man held on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of Alisha Samuels in Manchester is no longer being treated as a suspect, bbc.com reports.
Samuels, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene after officers responded to reports of a disturbance on Dorking Avenue in Newton Heath at around 02:00 BST on Thursday. The 25-year-old man initially arrested has since been released on police bail, pending further inquiries into unrelated matters, Greater Manchester Police confirmed.
Detective Chief Inspector Justin Bryant, the senior investigating officer, said the inquiry remained fully active. "We are relentlessly pursuing those responsible for Alisha's death and are continuing to seek those outstanding individuals believed to have been involved in this incident," he said.
Bryant also urged the public to refrain from speculating about the circumstances of Samuels' death, warning that misinformation could obstruct the investigation and cause additional distress to her family.
Two further arrests were made on Thursday. A man aged 61 and a woman aged 38 were both detained on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Detectives are appealing for anyone with information, however minor it may appear, to come forward and contact police, saying any detail could assist investigators in identifying those responsible and securing justice for Samuels.
