Murder charge after woman's body found in van fire in Denbighshire
A 38-year-old man from Rhyl has been charged with murder following the discovery of a woman's body inside a burning van in Prestatyn, bbc.com reports.
Thomas Matthew Hammond Bell, of Wellington Road, Rhyl, appeared at Llandudno Magistrates' Court on Thursday. He is due before Mold Crown Court on Friday.
North Wales Police were called to Gas Works Lane in Prestatyn, Denbighshire, at around 23:30 BST on 4 October after emergency services responded to a van fire. Bell was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder, with an extension of custody granted on Tuesday before the formal charge was brought.
A post-mortem examination confirmed the victim was an adult female. The identity of the woman has not been disclosed.
Det Supt Chris Bell said earlier this week: "We understand this incident may cause concern within the local community, and I would like to reassure the public that there is a visible policing presence in the area."
Det Ch Insp Zoie Dunkerley confirmed the investigation remains ongoing and urged anyone with relevant information to come forward.
