Armed street fight in Radlett leads to prison sentences for two men
Two men have been sentenced following an affray in which weapons were brandished in broad daylight in Radlett, watfordobserver.co.uk reports.
The incident occurred on Sunday 28 June along Orchard Close and Fairfield Close, where Jordan Short, 28, and Samuel Patterson, 29, were seen holding weapons. Both fled before officers arrived but were identified and arrested two days later.
Short, of Bishops Rise, Hatfield, was sentenced to one year and five months in prison. Patterson, of Flecker Close, Stanmore, received a one-year-and-eight-month sentence, suspended for two years. He must also complete 150 hours of unpaid work alongside rehabilitation activities. Both men had pleaded not guilty to affray.
Hertfordshire Police had secured closure orders on two properties in Orchard Close and Fairfield Close linked to the incident.
Sergeant Jo Skingley said: "This incident, occurring in broad daylight, understandably caused much concern in the local area. Short and Patterson showed no regard to those around them who might have witnessed such a frightening incident."
Skingley added: "Thankfully there were no injuries but reports of weapons will always be taken seriously. I hope the news of their sentencing provides some reassurance that the matter was dealt with quickly and robustly."
A man in his 20s from Radlett, arrested on suspicion of affray, was released with no further action taken.
