An 18-year-old has been taken into custody on two counts of murder following the deadly shooting of two teenage boys at Moss Landing State Beach in Monterey County, California, abc7news.com reports.

The Monterey County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest on Friday, a day after three people were detained during the execution of search warrants at a property in Greenfield. The suspect, whose name has not been released pending formal charges, was booked into Monterey County Jail with bail set at $2.035 million. The charges carry criminal street gang enhancements.

The arrest is linked to a shooting that occurred along Jetty Road in Moss Landing in the early hours of 2 November. Deputies, California State Parks personnel and CHP officers arrived at the scene just before 2 a.m. to find Nathaniel Flores, 13, and Marco Antonio Perez, 15, both residents of Salinas, dead. A third person arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound, while a fourth was transported from the scene with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Thursday, law enforcement from multiple agencies conducted simultaneous operations in Greenfield and King City. The first search warrant was executed at a property in the 900 block of Maple Avenue in Greenfield, where three individuals were detained. A second warrant was served hours later at an address in the 45000 block of Crown Avenue in King City.

Monterey County Sheriff Tina M. Nieto credited community members with helping advance the investigation. "We want to thank the members of our community who came forward with information that helped our detectives reach this point," Nieto said. "Our detectives have been working tirelessly to determine what led to the tragic deaths of these two young victims. While an arrest has been made, our work is not over."

Nieto added that investigators are continuing to pursue justice for Flores and Perez and their families.

The investigation remains active. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sgt. N. Kennedy at 831-755-3773 or Detective R. Geng at 831-759-7279.
