Google News MT — Crime (en) reports that an 18-year-old man was shot and killed in the early hours of Sunday morning outside a short-term rental property hosting a party in the southwest Las Vegas valley.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) said dispatchers received a 911 call at approximately 2 a.m. reporting gunfire in the 7200 block of Atascadero Creek Court, near Warm Springs Road and Jones Boulevard. Officers from Spring Valley Area Command arrived to find a male suffering from gunshot wounds in the driveway of the home.

The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Dzale Murrel, 18. Officers provided aid until medical personnel arrived, but Murrel was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary information from police indicates a large house party was underway inside the property — listed as a short-term rental on Airbnb — when a fight broke out among those gathered. During the altercation, one person drew a firearm, shot Murrel, and fled. Police do not believe Murrel was a resident of the home.

Investigators said they believe most of those involved in the fight are in their teens or early 20s, and that the large group present likely knew one another. No arrests had been made as of the time of reporting.

Airbnb issued a statement following the shooting, condemning the violence and confirming immediate action. "Airbnb has a strict ban on disruptive parties. We've suspended the listing, as well as the booking guest's account, and stand ready to support the Las Vegas Metro Police Department in their investigation," an Airbnb spokesperson said.

The company noted that disruptive parties remain rare on its platform, stating that fewer than 0.07% of all Airbnb reservations in Nevada in 2025 resulted in an allegation of a party. Airbnb said it maintains a 24-hour safety line for hosts and guests during active stays, as well as a Neighborhood Support Line allowing local residents to report concerns — such as a suspected party in progress — directly to a dedicated team.

Airbnb officials added that they are supporting the property host through their Host Damage Protection programme under AirCover, which provides up to $3 million in coverage for property damage. Neighbours who experienced damage connected to the stay were urged to contact Airbnb's Neighbourhood Support team.

Clark County Officials confirmed the property is an unlicensed short-term rental with no prior history of complaints or enforcement violations.
