A second employee at Amazing Explorers Academy in Pittsboro has been charged with child abuse, wral.com reported on Wednesday.

Court documents identify the suspect as Tammy Xara, 59, who faces one count of misdemeanor child abuse. According to the documents, Xara allegedly injured a child in September by aggressively jerking the child's arm and then forcefully pulling her off a chair.

Pittsboro police confirmed Xara was employed at the daycare at the time of the alleged incident. Amazing Explorers Academy told WRAL News that Xara is no longer on staff.

Xara is the second employee from the facility to face such charges. Earlier in October, Violetta Wolovich, 25, was arrested on two separate occasions and charged with 18 total counts of child abuse.

Pittsboro police said the investigation remains ongoing.
