Bank of America exec Erin Piacenti stabbed to death in Times Square attack

Erin Piacenti, 32, a new mother who had just returned from maternity leave, was fatally stabbed in a random attack in Midtown Manhattan. The suspect, Pamela Cisneros, 49, was shot dead by police.

New mother and banking executive killed in random Times Square stabbing

Erin Piacenti, 32, a Bank of America executive and University of Pennsylvania graduate from Chester, NJ, was fatally stabbed Monday afternoon in Times Square in what NY Post Metro describes as a random attack carried out by Pamela Cisneros, 49, a mentally disturbed mother of three.

Just four days before her death, Piacenti posted a photo of herself smiling while holding her infant daughter, standing beside her husband — writing about how happy she was, according to the New York Times. She had recently returned to work after five months of maternity leave and had celebrated her baby's recent baptism.

In the same post, Piacenti reflected on a second wedding anniversary with her husband, Frank, and trips the couple had taken to Long Beach, NJ, Maine, and Rhode Island. "Beautiful, beautiful girl," her grandmother told the Times.

Cisneros carried out the attack in the heart of Manhattan's theater district, also stabbing and wounding a second passerby before officers shot her dead at the scene.

Piacenti attended Villa Walsh Academy, a private Catholic girls' school in Morristown, NJ, before earning her undergraduate degree from Penn and a law degree from Fordham Law School in Manhattan, where she and Frank both graduated in 2021.

Bank of America released a statement following the attack: "We are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague. She was a valued teammate who will be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to her family and all of her loved ones."

Fordham Law School also issued a statement: "We are heartbroken to learn of the tragic and senseless loss of our alumna, Erin (Guiltinan) Piacenti. Erin and her husband, Frank, graduated in 2021 and have been cherished members of the Fordham Law family. During this devastating time, our thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathies are with Frank, their families, and all who knew and loved Erin."

The investigation is ongoing.
