A high-ranking employee at Bank of America died on Monday following a knife attack at New York City’s Times Square. The victim was identified as 32-year-old Erin Piacenti, a resident of Chester, New Jersey, who held the position of vice president at the banking institution.

The New York Police Department reported that the incident unfolded after an emergency call came through the 911 system shortly before 4:30 p.m. Officers who arrived at the bustling Manhattan landmark encountered a 49-year-old female suspect armed with two knives. Police fired at the woman, wounding her. Paramedics rushed the attacker to a medical center, where staff subsequently declared her dead.

Authorities confirmed that Piacenti had suffered fatal wounds during the assault. Bank of America also acknowledged the loss of its staff member in an internal email that journalists at Reuters were able to review. In the message, which Večernji list also cited, senior officials said they were devastated by the sudden passing of their colleague. They remembered Piacenti as a valued member of the organization and extended condolences to her relatives and closest companions during this difficult period.
