Delos Anthony Charles Moore, a 43-year-old ex-convict enrolled at Cal Poly Humboldt, was arrested for sexual assault and then again for violating a court order barring him from campus.
Ex-convict freshman arrested twice at Cal Poly Humboldt within days of move-in
A 43-year-old college freshman with 14 years of prior prison time was arrested twice during his first week living in a university dormitory, NY Post Metro reports — first on suspicion of sexual assault, then for allegedly returning to campus in defiance of a court order.
Delos Anthony Charles Moore was taken into custody on August 31 following an alleged attack at Cal Poly Humboldt, where he had recently enrolled to study forestry and was residing in the Hinarr Hu Moulik halls. He was subsequently released on $35,000 bond after a second arrest for allegedly re-entering the dorms while a court order barred him from the campus.
Moore's criminal history stretches back to a 2007 robbery in Gardena, California. In a 2024 podcast appearance, he described how he and two other men held up a cigarette store and a water store, tying up the owner and striking him when he tried to escape. An initial two-year sentence was extended by ten years due to gang-related enhancements.
He went on to serve time at multiple California facilities, including High Desert State Prison, Kern Valley State Prison, and the California Institute for Men. Prison officials later discovered narcotics concealed inside a condom that his girlfriend had brought during a visit, resulting in an additional five-year sentence, according to the Lost Coast Outpost.
While incarcerated, Moore earned an associate degree in sociology from Lake Tahoe Community College. He was released in 2021 after good-behavior credits and subsequently moved into the entertainment industry, working as a production assistant on commercials and television projects.
An organization focused on helping formerly incarcerated individuals find employment had backed Moore, and he was awarded a scholarship to attend Cal Poly Humboldt — granted fewer than three months before his arrest. He had spoken publicly on multiple occasions about his time behind bars, including accounts of prison fights and struggles with drug use.
